Student Artwork on Display at Starbucks Student artwork at Starbucks

Artwork from Moon Area School District art students is currently on display at the Starbucks on Beaver Grade Road. In addition to the artwork being on display inside the store, Starbucks gave each student a gift card as a thank you for their participation. A special thank you to Starbucks for displaying our student artwork!

Kindergarten Registration Opens on February 1, 2021 Kindergarten Registration begins Feb. 1

Kindergarten registration for the 2021-2022 school year will open on February 1, 2021. Please visit our registration page on or after February 1, 2021 to register your child for kindergarten. Incoming first grade students who are new to the Moon Area School District will also be able to register on February 1, 2021. Thank you! 

MASD Challenge Students Featured in YouTube Troutwood Live! challenge program

Mrs. Sharon Gaitens and her Challenge Students in grades 1-5 partnered with Mr. Gene Natali, CEO of Troutwood and award-winning author (The Missing Semester) to increase financial literacy among her students.

Troutwood is a financial technology company based in Pittsburgh founded out of Carnegie Mellon University’s Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship.  Mrs. Gaitens initially invited Mr. Natali to be a Presenter as part of the MASD K-5 Challenge Program Guest Speaker series as part of her lessons on the Stock Market and S&P 500 Companies.

MASD Challenge Students Place in Top 10 at AIU History Bowl Heinz History Center

The AIU3 hosted 287 fourth and fifth grade students from numerous school districts in Allegheny County for the 2020 Virtual History Bowl at the Heinz History Center. The students attended a Presentation and Virtual Tour of various galleries and then competed in a Scavenger Hunt based on the knowledge learned from the Presentation.

MAEF is now a Contributor Choice Agency with the United Way MAEF logo

Moon Area Education Foundation (MAEF) was recently approved to be a Contributor Choice Agency with United Way of Southwestern PA! The Foundation is now eligible to receive contributions through United Way for our STEAM programs.

United Way of Southwestern PA (UWSWPA) offers donors a wide range of options to identify how they want their dollars to help. Donors can direct all or a portion of a contribution to: The United Way Impact Fund; United Way of Southwestern PA Initiatives: Moon Area Education Foundation (16321564).
