Dr. Moore Selected as Pittsburgh Penguins Most Valuable Principal

Dr. Julie Moore, principal of McCormick Elementary School in the Moon Area School District, has been named a 2026 Pittsburgh Penguins MVP (Most Valuable Principal). This distinguished recognition honors exceptional school leaders who demonstrate a strong commitment to high-quality teaching, student achievement, and positive school culture.

Selected from a large pool of nominees, Dr. Moore is among just 15 building administrators in Allegheny County to earn this award. The Pittsburgh Penguins present the MVP distinction in collaboration with the Grable Foundation and the Allegheny Intermediate Unit, spotlighting principals whose leadership has had a lasting and meaningful influence within their school communities.

Dr. Moore’s selection reflects her dedication to fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, supporting educators, and ensuring students are equipped to succeed both academically and socially.

In recognition of this achievement, Dr. Moore will be honored at a Pittsburgh Penguins game in March, receive a custom Penguins jersey, and McCormick Elementary School will be awarded a $1,000 donation.

This honor underscores the impact of effective school leadership and celebrates the positive difference Dr. Moore continues to make for students, staff, and families.

Congratulations to Dr. Moore on this well-deserved recognition.
