MAHS Accounting Students Attend Accounting Conference

Moon Area High School (MAHS) accounting students attended a high school accounting conference on Wednesday, September 14 at Robert Morris University.

The high school accounting conference provided students an opportunity to learn from college students, professors, and accounting professionals. Student breakout sessions included college professors discussing personal branding, college students discussing college life and professional careers, and accounting professionals discussing their careers.

At the conclusion of the breakout sessions, two professionals in the field of accounting provided valuable information about their career and the benefits of the profession. Jennifer Cryder, CEO of the Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs, and Rich Archer, Partner at KPMG Pittsburgh, presented executive dialogue.

Jerry Maginnis, book author, was the keynote speaker and introduced his book “Advice for a Successful Career in the Accounting Profession.” Each attendee received a copy of his book.

The attendees included: Vivian Funkhouser, Matt Durr, Josh Koepfer, Max Depner, Lance Zabela, Tyler Greggs, Michael Walenchok, Ethan Konieczka, Sydney Blewitt, and Isabella Olsen.

The event at Robert Morris University is an opportunity to enhance the curriculum. Accounting 1 and College in High School (CHS) Accounting students attended the event. The CHS Accounting course provides students an opportunity to earn college credit at Moon High School.
