Westminster Professor Visits MAHS

Westminster Professor Keith Bittel visited Moon Area High School on Wednesday, March 20th. He teaches collegiate accounting courses, is a certified public accountant (CPA), and operates his own accounting firm. Professor Bittel presented his background, educational experience, and work experience to the Business Club. The Business Club meets once a month and provides opportunities to learn from professionals in many facets of business. Business Club students also have an opportunity to attend a competition at a college campus.

The presentation stressed the importance of taking accounting in high school to prepare for college and to help with personal finances. MAHS offers second year accounting students the opportunity to enroll in a college in high school (CHS) accounting course and earn college credits through Robert Morris University.

The topics of the presentation included educational pathways, professional certifications, suggested professional skills, and future changes in the field of accounting. The work/life benefits of an accounting career and potential employers were discussed. The event provided an enhancement to the curriculum by allowing the students to understand the importance of their studies as it relates to the real world.

Thank you to Professor Bittel for visiting MAHS.
