Harry Potter Middle School Cafe

Sixth grade English Language Arts students at Moon Area Middle School recently showcased their creativity and comprehension during their Harry Potter Café Projects, a culminating activity tied to their novel study of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling.

As part of the project, students planned themed menus and created food items inspired by the novel, demonstrating their understanding of key reading skills practiced throughout the unit, including characterization, setting, and plot development. Each café reflected thoughtful connections to the text and allowed students to apply their learning in an engaging, hands-on way.

Eighth grade students were invited to visit the sixth-grade classrooms, where they toured and evaluated each group’s “restaurant.” This experience gave the older students an opportunity to revisit the beloved novel, collaborate with their peers, and take on a leadership role by providing feedback and encouragement to the sixth graders.
