MAMS Students Participate in District 1 Junior High Chorus Festival

Moon Area School District is proud to announce that eight of its students were selected to participate in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 1 Junior High Chorus Festival on Friday, February 28. Representing the middle school at the festival were seventh grade students Roger Lash and Sophia Singh, and eighth grade students Ashley Hsu, Jacob Lehr, and Evan Wicks.  Representing the high school at the festival were ninth grade students Emerson Miller, James Nolan, and Gianna Quitoni.

Held at Keystone Oaks High School, the festival brought together 130 talented young vocalists from 48 school districts across the region. Under the direction of guest conductor Victor C. Johnson from Dallas, Texas, students participated in a busy day of rehearsals concluding with an evening concert. Johnson, a prolific composer and arranger with over 450 choral works, vocal solo books, and keyboard collections in print, is highly regarded as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician throughout the United States.

Moon Area was especially proud to have two of its students, Ashley Hsu and Gianna Quitoni, selected as soloists for the concert.  Participation in PMEA festivals is a significant achievement, showcasing the hard work and musical excellence of young performers. Moon Area celebrates the accomplishments of these students and their commitment to choral music.
