Middle School Honors Veterans with Special Assembly

Middle School Honors Veterans with Special Assembly

Students and staff at the Middle School came together to host a heartfelt Veterans Day Assembly to honor the men and women who have served our country.

The program began with the Pledge of Allegiance and a moving performance of the National Anthem by the school orchestra. Following introductory remarks, the chorus performed a medley of songs representing each branch of the U.S. military, and the band presented a patriotic medley that filled the auditorium with pride and gratitude.

Guest speakers included Lt. Col. Samantha Bowman (U.S. Army), Retired Lt. Commander Rick Terrio (U.S. Navy), and Amber Borders, National Service Officer for Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Each speaker shared inspiring messages about service, sacrifice, and patriotism.

The assembly also included a moment of silence to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice, followed by “Taps” performed by Mr. Minamyer. The event concluded with closing remarks and a presentation of a donation check to the DAV organization.

This meaningful assembly was preceded by a fundraising effort led by the Middle School Student Council, alongside Mrs. Joyce and Mrs. Bauer. Students sold flags during lunch, which were displayed outside the school as a touching tribute to veterans. They also decorated the auditorium to create a welcoming environment for honored guests. In addition, a gift basket generously donated by Tropical Smoothie Café was raffled off.

Thanks to the generosity of students, staff, and families, the school raised $1,032 in support of the Disabled American Veterans.
