Dear MASD Families:
I hope you are all having a wonderful summer. While you still have a few weeks to enjoy your summer break, we’re busy preparing for the upcoming school year. I have included some information below that I hope you will find helpful.
First Day of School
We’re excited to welcome our students back to school! The first day of school for students is August 24.
Teacher Assignments and Schedules
Teacher assignments and schedules are now available in Skyward!
Save the Date for Open House
Open House is planned for September. Please save the date.
- High School – September 7 from 6-8 pm
- Middle School – September 13 from 6-8 pm
- All Elementary Schools – September 8 from 6-8 pm
Federal funding for student meals at school is no longer available. Students who would like to eat breakfast and/or lunch at school will purchase meals for the 2022-2023 school year unless they qualify for free/reduced meals.
If you intend to apply for free/reduced meals, please do so as soon as possible. It can take time for your family’s application to be processed. Click here for more information.
Technology Fee & Device Distribution
High school students who qualify for free/reduced meals will have their technology fee waived. Only HS (grades 9-12) students have a technology fee ($50). Middle school and elementary students do not have a fee, but those families can purchase optional $30 device protection through the Skyward parent portal.
Devices will be issued to all students K-12 in homeroom after the start of the school year.
We are working hard to finalize our bus routes. Families should have access to that information in Skyward by August 18. Please be patient the first week or two of school while our drivers and families familiarize themselves with the routes and make any necessary adjustments. Buses may run a bit behind schedule; however, please be at your bus stop 10 minutes prior to your child’s noted pick up time.

This year the district is once again offering a K-12 cyber education program for students who are already enrolled in the Moon Cyber Program. However, the district will be phasing the K-6 online program out at the end of this school year.
The goal is to have the majority of our youngest learners back in our classrooms where they can thrive. However, if your child has a document need, the district always considers accommodations to support our students.
Cyber students and potential cyber students in grades 7-12 will return to pre-pandemic guidelines. They will need to obtain annual principal permission to remain in the Moon Cyber education program. The principal will review the student’s academic performance, individual needs, and the ability to complete assignments on time before approving any student participation in the cyber education program.
Enjoy the rest of your summer and we’ll see you soon!
