Free Breakfast for MASD Students

Free Breakfast for MASD Students

Dear MASD Families,

On Friday, September 9, 2022, Governor Tom Wolf announced that Pennsylvania will make it possible for all schools participating in the School Breakfast Program (SBP) to provide free breakfasts for all enrolled students during the 2022-2023 school year. This program will begin with breakfast meals served on October 1, 2022 and run through the end of the 2022-2023 school year.

The Universal Free Breakfast Program is available to ALL Moon Area School District students, regardless of whether or not they qualify for free or reduced meals.  No further action is needed to receive free breakfast.

Please note that nothing will change regarding how we serve breakfast to our students.  They can continue to go through the serving line as they do now and enter their student ID number. To accommodate the large increase in breakfasts we anticipate, please make sure your child knows their student ID number to keep lines moving.  Any meals that they take will be recorded on their account at no charge. Only full meals qualify for the free breakfast program.

The Moon Area School District is grateful for the opportunity to help ensure that every student starts their day with a healthy, nutritious meal.  We know that research supports that a child who starts the day with breakfast is more likely to be at school, has improved concentration, and is more willing to participate in the classroom.
