MAHS and Bon Meade Students Support Beverly's Birthdays

During the month of February, the High School Student Council and Bon Meade Student Council are working together to sponsor a snack drive for Beverly's Birthdays, a local non-profit that provides thousands of underserved children with birthday parties, clothing, snacks, infant formula, and smiles annually. Their mission is simple -- they want every kid to know that they matter. Students, staff and families at the high school and Bon Meade want to help!

Together the schools decided to host a snack-collection war to collect as many non-perishable, individually wrapped snacks as possible. These are things like individually bagged chips, goldfish, granola bars, snack bars, fruit snacks, movie sized boxes of candy, or squeezable apple sauce pouches that students can bring in and donate to the cause. The class that donates the most in each building will receive a pizza party courtesy of Student Council, and once all the items are collected the Student Council Officers will take a field trip to Beverly’s Birthdays Headquarters to tour the facility and see firsthand the work the organization is doing.

Members of the High School Student Council recently visited Bon Meade to meet with fourth grade officers during the students recess time. They worked together to create posters to advertise the snack drive that will be hung in both buildings and talk about ways they can help do good in their school and community. It was a great first meeting and everyone is excited to see how much they can collect!

Special thanks to building Principals Tom Misko and Lucas Furlow for allow the students to get together to work on this fun and rewarding community project.
