MAHS Senior Receives Stars and Stripes Award

MAHS Senior Receives Stars and Stripes Award

The top service honor in the American Heritage Girls organization is the “Stars and Stripes Award,” which is often compared to the Boy Scouts’ rank of Eagle Scout. Because this honor is so robust, only approximately 3% of the girls in the organization earn this award.

Madaleine McMahon, a Moon Area School District senior, recently received this highest honor though the American Heritage Girl Troop 1301, in Moon Township. This award was given upon the completion of a multi-month service project that she developed, planned, and implemented. It required 100 hours of service as well as 10 hours of supervising younger troop members. She provided a project plan, volunteer organization, land scaping, and painting, to complete a “refreshing” of the World Vision office in Sewickley; which provided a more pleasant, organized workspace for their volunteers.

Congratulations to Madaleine on achieving this noble distinction of a true leader!
