STA Driver Referral Program

Dear Booster and/or Parent Representative,

Recruitment is an important and ongoing part of the student transportation industry. With the District’s approval, STA is excited to introduce our “STA Driver Referral Program” to help raise funds for your organization and offer employment opportunities to friends, relatives, and residents of the surrounding communities.

STA is now accepting applications for both school bus and school van driving positions to service the Moon Area School District.

How does it work?

• Refer an interested candidate by having them designate your organization as the sponsor group on the application they complete at STA.
• If the applicant meets all criteria, is successfully hired, and remains employed for 90 days, your organization will receive a donation from STA.
• STA will provide free training to obtain the required Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) for the bus positions.
• Van drivers do not require a CDL but must meet all other hiring requirements.
• Groups can take advantage of the program through April 15, 2023.

How much can my organization earn?

• Applicant without a current CDL: Upon completion of 90 days employment as a driver with STA, your organization will receive a donation of $300 for every successful referral.
• Applicant with a current CDL: Upon hire and completion of 90 days employment as a driver with STA, your organization will receive a donation of $500 for every driver. The CDL applicant will also qualify for a "sign on bonus."
• Driving a school bus is an extremely rewarding part-time position and STA offers one of the best pay packages in the area. A school bus/van driver has holidays and summers off and is eligible to file for unemployment during extended off duty periods.
