Haley Smarsh had an extraordinary wrestling season and historic achievement. She captured the WPIAL, West Regional, and PIAA State Championships at the 130-pound weight class, finishing the season with an impressive 41-3 record. She is now a three-time WPIAL and West Regional champion and has made school history by becoming our first girls wrestling state champion. Nationally recognized, Haley is currently ranked seventh in the country in her weight class. In addition to her state title this season, she has earned two state medals, finishing as runner-up in 2024 and sixth place in 2025. Haley’s dedication, resilience, and excellence have set a new standard for our program.

Haley was also presented with a Proclamation from Kathleen Madonna Emmerling at the March 23, 2026 school board meeting.

Cael Yanek also had an outstanding wrestling season and achieved a career milestone. Cael earned his first WPIAL and West Regional Championships this year and qualified for the PIAA State Tournament for the second consecutive season. He finished the year with a strong 42-8 record and surpassed the 100-win mark for his career—an impressive accomplishment that reflects his consistency and commitment. Cael will continue his academic and athletic career at Mercyhurst University as a member of their wrestling program.

Congratulations to Haley and Cael!
