Literacy Week and Youth Art Month

Literacy Week and Youth Art Month

It was a full house when students, parents, teachers, and canines got together at Hyde Elementary on Tuesday, February 28 to celebrate Literacy Week and Youth Art Month.

In addition to art exhibits, a book fair, STEAM activities, and ice cream, students enjoyed the work of a local artist and shared reading time with certified therapy dogs from Therapets.

In addition, Jimmy Kanfoush presented an assembly earlier that day that combined reading and drawing techniques. At the assembly, students were chosen from Hyde's PBIS Tiger Tokens to have their caricatures drawn by Mr. Kanfoush. He then returned that evening to showcase his skills and draw more caricatures for students and families.

Hyde fourth graders read books about dogs with our attending therapy dogs before giving everyone a chance to visit the dogs and learn a bit about the services they provide.

Thank you to all of the families who helped make this night a huge success.
