Brooks Students Use Pumpkins for Cross-Curricular Project

First graders at Brooks Elementary recently conducted a "pumpkin investigation."

The cross-curricular activity challenged students to incorporate their English language arts, science, and art skills into one project.

Students in Mrs. Taylor, Mrs. Kephart, and Miss Archer’s classes wrote adjectives to describe their pumpkin, illustrated it, tested to see if the pumpkin could float or sink, and estimated the amount of seeds in the pumpkin.

Afterwards, students dug out the pumpkin seeds to evaluate whether their estimations were accurate.

The investigation allowed students to work together and have fun while learning!
