March 13, 2020

Good Afternoon,

As the COVID-19 virus situation has continued to evolve on national and local levels, we have been communicating and collaborating to adapt to this progressing situation. Decisions regarding school closures remain at the discretion of the Districts at this time; however, we have been in communication with many of our neighboring schools in Allegheny County to act in unity.

For the protection of our students and staff, we have decided to respond to the ongoing health concerns regarding the spread of COVID-19 by closing Moon Area School District buildings beginning Monday, March 16, 2020, through Friday, March 27, 2020. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and reevaluate in late March whether or not we need to extend the school closure. We will notify you later today on methods of instruction moving forward during the closure.

All extra-curricular activities events have been postponed until further notice.

We appreciate all that our students, teachers, and families have done to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Thank you,

Barry Balaski

Acting Superintendent

Moon Area School District
