Important Message for Seniors

High School

Dear Class of 2020,

As your senior year comes to an end, I wanted to express our pride in your accomplishments at Moon Area High School.  It was great to see many of you as we made our way through the neighborhoods placing the Class of 2020 signs in your yards. As we continue to celebrate our seniors, we would like to update you on some happenings as graduation approaches.

Diploma Distribution Ceremony

Since June 6 was originally scheduled to be your graduation day, we would like to still honor our seniors with a diploma distribution ceremony at the High School. Diploma distribution times are scheduled by homeroom assignments (see chart below).  Students will arrive at the high school in graduation regalia to pick up the diploma. When directed, you will get out of your car and receive your diploma and Studio Ten Photography will be present to take a commemorative photo. Students will receive a 5x7 photo by mail and have the opportunity to purchase additional photos through Studio Ten. Due to social distancing requirements, we ask that the graduate is the only person to exit the vehicle and that all students arrive at their assigned times.

In the event of inclement weather, an alternative date of June 8, 2020, has been scheduled. The event would take place in the early evening and a new time schedule would be distributed.

We are thankful to have the support of the Moon Township Police Department as we move forward with this event.

Requirements for Diploma Distribution

Financial obligations to the school must be reconciled in order to receive your diploma, request a transcript, participate in the graduation ceremony, and update your computer.

  • Check the Fee Management section in your Skyward account to view your obligation balance
  • Cafeteria obligations must be paid separately
  • You may write a check to MASD Food Service
  • You may pay online at www.schoolcafe.com
  • Please contact the Main Office at 412-264-9440 x2000 with any questions regarding financial obligations

Graduation Ceremony

In addition to the distribution of diplomas on June 6, we still hope to hold an in-person graduation ceremony at Tiger Stadium on July 11, if permitted by the Allegheny County Health Department, CDC, and Allegheny County Emergency Management. If we are not permitted to gather in Tiger Stadium, a virtual graduation ceremony will be held on July 13, 2020.

MASD is Accepting Laptop Donations

Seniors do not need to return their laptops for reimaging. Directions for updating your computer will be sent after the school year ends. If you do not need your computer after the school year ends, you have the option of returning the District-issued laptop back to the school as a donation.
